Tottenham Hotspur have fended of competition from Premier League champions Leicester City for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama .
According to the Mirror, the north London outfit have agreed a fee in the region of £11 million for the Kenya international, with a medical set to take place shortly.
Wanyama has been on Tottenham''s radar for some time, with Squawka's Greg Stobart having previously reveal that Mauricio Pochettino's side were keen to conclude a deal for the 24-year-old, while it was also reporte that the 24-ear-old had informed Saints officials of his intention to leave the club.
Spusr are eager to bolster their squad after missing out on the Premier League title last season, and Wanyama's arrival would provide them with an extra sense of solidity in midfield.
Wanyama is capable of retaining possession well, as demonstrated by his average pas accuracy of 82% in the league last season, while he also often makes robust challenges.
If Tottenham do manage to complete this deal, Pochettino will have an array of midfield options at his disposal next season, and a deep-lying partnership of Wanyama and Eric Dier would be especially difficult for opposing sides to breach.
There will surely be further arrivals at White Hart Lane this summer, with the club on the lookout for a new striker to provide competition for Harry Kane, who finished as the Premier League's top goalscorer last season.
